The objective of promoting entrepreneurship abilities among the youth is to nurture a passion for self-employment. This will open Avenues for creation of new knowledge-based innovative hi-tech ventures, industries and new breed of technopreneurs and more avenues of employment opportunities thus turning job seekers into job creators and in the process, leading the nation towards industrial excellence and self-reliance.

“The education system should highlight the importance of entrepreneurship and prepare the students right from school and college education to get oriented towards setting up of enterprises which will provide them creativity, freedom and ability to generate wealth - Dr. APJ.Abdul Kalam, Former President of India.

 

The broad objectives of EDC would include

  • To create awareness on entrepreneurship among the students.

  • To inculcate entrepreneurial spirit and culture among the Management graduates

  • To conduct programs in Entrepreneurship enabling skills.

  • To identify and motivate budding entrepreneurs.

  • To assist entrepreneurs in sourcing finance, identifying market, preparation of business plan and product development.

  • To guide the prospective entrepreneurs in knowledge based ventures.

  • To help entrepreneurs to acquire necessary skills to run the industry effectively.

  • To bridge the gap between Industries and Institutions by carrying out research activities for the industries.

  • To conduct skill-oriented Industrial Development training programs with updated technologies.

  • To provide need-based consultancy services to industries.

    • To facilitate the development of high technology industries and contribute towards Nation’s growth
    • The vision of the cell is to become a regional leader in delivering business development and marketplace services.

    Programmes organized by ED cell
    The Entrepreneurship Development Cell has been actively conducting programs in entrepreneurship with concerted initiatives to promote entrepreneurship abilities among the students.
    1. Management Development Programme on Entrepreneurship and Development and Innovation on Saturday 4th January 2014.

    MEASI Institute of Management, 87, Peters Road, Royapettah, chennai- 14 organised Management Development Programme on Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation on Saturday 4th January 2014. The Programme  started with Inauguration Function at 9.30. AM. Janab A .Mohamed Ashraf Sahib, Executive Director, MEASI Institute of management Presided over the function. Mr.K .Murali, Director, Research and Development, Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME),chennai delivered keynote address. Dr.D.Nisar Ahmed, Director, MEASI Institute of Management delivered Inaugural address. Prof. C. Kaleemullah  welcomed the gathering. Mr.S.Vinoth, Mr.A.Appu, Assistant Professors, MEASI Institute of Management are the coordinators for the Programme.  The Programme scheduled in five different sessions. Session-I is about scope for the Innovation and Entrepreneurs Development Chaired by Dr.E.Muralidharan, Environmental consultant and Bio-Medical Engineer. Session-II is about creativity and Innovation in Entreprenurship chaired by Mr.Barath Surendran, Director,Techemate Ledership Academy, Chennai. Session- III is about challenges of successful and Inventive Entrepreneur chaired by Mr.M.Arul Raj, Propereitor, organic pasumaiyakam, Chennai. Session-IV is about Entrepreneurship and Economic Development chaired by Dr.M.Prabhu, Associate Professor, TNVAAS University, Session –V is about converting opportunities into enterprises chaired by Mr.Mujeebkhan, Managing Director and Mr. Farhathullah Khan, Executive Director, Tamkeen solutions. More than Hundred Academicians, Research scholars and students from various Institutions and colleges are participated and benefited by this Management Development Programme. The Programme ended with valedictory at about 5.00 PM. Mr.Arun Krishnamurthy, Founder of Environmentalist Foundation of India  is the chief guest and delivered the valedictory address. The Certificates for the participants distributed by Janab.A.Mohamed Ashraf sahib, Executive Director ,MEASI Institute of Management.

    2. Joined as a Institute member for entrepreneurship development with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) for the year 2015 – 2016  and  2016 -2019

Measi Institute of Management organized workshop on Entrepreneurship Orientation Programme on 06.10.2015 at 10.00 AM in Haji Anaikar Abdul Sukoor Auditorium. The workshop started with inaugural function, Mr. R. Harish, Assistant Manager, NSIC, Technical Services Centre, The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (Government of India Enterprise) Chennai is the Chief Guest for the Programme. Dr. D. Nisar Ahmed, Director, Measi Institute of Management delivered the inaugural address. Major Dr. Zahid Hussain, Professor, Department of Economics, New college presides over the programme. Mr R. Harish highlighted the importance of Entrepreneurship and how to start the business and the role of government and other agencies in developing the entrepreneur. More than 200 students from MEASI Institute of Management, MEASI institute of Information Technology and from New college have participated and benefited by this Programme. The programme ended at 1.00 PM with vote of thanks.

 

4. Guest Lecture on “Challenges of New Generation Entrepreneurship” on 22.10.2016 at 3.00 to 5.00 PM
Guest Lecture on “Challenges in First Generation Entrepreneurship” for the First Year and second year MBA students held on 22nd January 2016 (Friday) at 3.00 to 5.00 PM. The Guest Speakers for the programme are MJF Lion K. Duraisamy, MD & CEO, Indoh Group of Companies and Mr.B.Munirathinam, Manading Director, iGlobe systems Pvt. Ltd. and Mrs.Smithra Kashaap, Tantric Yoga. Mrs. Smithra Kashaap highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and given motivational lecture to the students to become entrepreneur. MJF Lion K. Duraisamy has beautifully explained about the seven important abilities of a successful entrepreneur. Mr. B. Munirathinam shared his own experience as an entrepreneur.
Students gained more knowledge and information through this Entrepreneurship Lecture. By seeing this event in Today’s Engagement Column of Hindu Newspaper two representatives from Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Anna University also attended the programme and one person from Digital Signature Company is also attended.  The Students and outside participants enjoyed and learned more information about entrepreneurship and all are given excellent feedback regarding the lecture.

5. ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL ORGANISED ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON “BISINESS STARTUP” on 12TH MARCH 2016, SATURDAY

Startup India, Standup India is a new mantra for encouraging Entrepreneurship initiatives in India. To support this initiative and to increase productivity of our nation and to make India a developed nation. Measi Institute of Management, entrepreneurship development cell organized a one day workshop on “Business Startup” on 12th March 2016, Saturday for first year MBA students. Dr. D. Nisar Ahmed, Director, MIM welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and motivated the students to become job provider instead of job seeker. Mr.Barathsurendran, Corporate trainer, Techemate Leadership academy is the resource person for the workshop. The business startup workshop covered  the topics like seven key components of a business in session one and introduction to product leadership in session two and introduction to market leadership in session three and finally in session four described about financial and operational leadership. This workshop helps students to learn how to start business and create a logo and website and to understand and study markets and competitive intelligence, running a business successfully. Finally this business startup workshop gives our youth the opportunities to grow and to become industrialists and entrepreneurs. Dr. S.G. Balaji, the coordinator of the workshop proposes vote of thanks.


6. Entrepreneurship Orientation Programme held on 19th July 2016, between 11.00 am to 1.00 pm

We MEASI Institute of Management signed MOU with National Entrepreneurial Network for the period of 3 years from April 2016 to March 2019 for carrying out Entrepreneurial Development activities in our campus. As a part of that activity Ms. Vishnu Priya, Regional Manager, southern Region, National Entrepreneurial Network  conducted Entrepreneurship orientation programme on 19th July 2016, between 11.00 am to 1.00 pm for our first year MBA students around 84 first year MBA students participated in the programme. Dr. D. Nisar Ahmed, Director , MIM highlighted the importance of Entrepreneurship, Dr.S.G.Balaji, Asst.Professor, MIM, outlined about the ED cell of our institute and its activities. Ms. Vishnu Priya, Regional Manager, NEN explained about the wadhwani foundation and National Entrepreneurial Network and how NEN helps to build entrepreneurship in the campus and how to use Learnwise Mobile Application and Educast Programmes and how this would be carried out in the campus. Finally she interacted with the students who are appointed as E-Leaders of E-cell. This programme helps the students to understand and to know how to build Entrepreneurial activities in the campus.
