U.S. Consulate Library

The Center (formerly known as the American Library) has played a special role in the relationship between the people of the United States and South India. Renovated in 2015, the Center continues that tradition for a new generation of South Indians. Just as the U.S.-India partnership has risen to new levels, the American Center is also evolving.  With an  event space, video viewing coves, online kiosks and much more, the Center has moved into the 21st century.

The American Center organizes a wide range of interactive programs.  There’s a little something for everyone, whether it’s English language workshops, entrepreneurial guidance, networking with U.S. higher education institutions, discussions on U.S. culture and policy, music, films, and an occasional standup comedy show, etc.  The American Center is a platform for our students’ from all walks of life to come together to engage on issues of common and global interest.

The American Center includes more than 15,000 books.  In addition to collections in the social sciences, business, management, and American literature, the Center provides information on the United States, its democratic institutions, history, and politics.
